City of Woonsocket announces winter storm parking ban and cancellations

WOONSOCKET, RI: The City of Woonsocket has announced a parking ban, a delay for trash and recycling pickup, and cancellation of municipal court in advance of winter storm “Stella,” which is expected to bring significant snow accumulation to the region.

A city-wide parking ban will be in effect from midnight tonight until further notice. On-street parking is prohibited during this time to allow crews to effectively and safely clear all roads. Further information regarding the City’s parking ordinance can be found here: http://www.woonsocketri.org/press-releases/news/winter-parking-ordinance-and-parking-ban-permit-program-reminder

Trash and recycling pickup will not take place on Tuesday and will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week. In the event snow accumulation is significant enough to cause further pickup delays, the City will issue advance notice.

  • Wednesday’s route will be picked up on Thursday, March 16.
  • Thursday’s route will be picked up on Friday, March 17.
