City of Woonsocket to host Menorah Lighting in Harris Hall
First-ever City ceremony; all are welcome

WOONSOCKET, RI: On Thursday, December 29, 2016, Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt and the Chabad House of Northern Rhode Island will host a Menorah Lighting ceremony in historic Harris Hall in recognition of Chanukah. The ceremony is open to the public and all are welcome. Thursday’s ceremony falls on the 6th night of the 8-day Jewish holiday, which is observed around the world. Chabad House of Northern Rhode Island is a community organization that works to promote the understanding and recognition of Judaism within Rhode Island.

“Woonsocket is blessed with having an inclusive community made up of individuals from many different backgrounds and beliefs,” said Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt. “Thursday’s Menorah Lighting is noteworthy because it marks the first time we have hosted this event at City Hall. The ceremony also represents our appreciation of the Jewish members of our community and a broader appreciation of diversity within our City.”
