City Yard Waste Pick-up to Resume April 10

WOONSOCKET, R.I.: The Woonsocket Department of Solid Waste has announced that curbside pick-up of yard waste (grass clippings, small branches, weeds, etc.) will resume for Woonsocket residents beginning Monday April 10. The service will run through June 16.

Yard waste should be placed in compost bags (do not use any kind of tape to secure the bags closed) or closed barrels (with lids) clearly marked “YARD WASTE.” Compost bags and closed barrels should be left along the curb on designated collections days by 7:00 am.

Additional yard waste can be dropped off the designated drop-off site in Blackstone, MA, which can be accessed by traveling along Canal Street (North Smithfield). The facility will be open Wednesdays 8:00 am – 3:00 pm and Saturdays 8:00 am to 3:45 pm, starting April 12. Only residents having the appropriate yard waste sticker will be allowed to use this facility – note that all residential properties in the City of Woonsocket are authorized to join the yard waste drop-off program. Residents can obtain stickers (GOLD for 2017) at City Hall in the Department of Public Works, Monday through Friday 8:30 am – 4:00 pm at a cost of $25.00.  Proper identification and vehicle registration are required.

Please note:

  • All yard waste stickers issued prior to January 2017 have expired.
  • Commercial vehicle registrations are excluded from this program.
  • This program is for yard waste only - it is illegal to combine yard waste and household waste.
