Statement from Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt regarding the offer from Invenergy to purchase water from the City of Woonsocket to supply the proposed Clear River Energy Center project
Woonsocket, RI: “After less than one month of closed meetings with the administration and the newly appointed council, Representatives from Invenergy have made an official offer to the City of Woonsocket to purchase water to supply the proposed Clear River Energy Center project. Public disclosure of the details of the offer is being made to better inform the residents of Woonsocket. In addition to purchasing water, the offer includes monetary compensation to host a Water Transport Facility within Woonsocket. A public hearing has been scheduled for this Friday, January 6, at Woonsocket High School to allow the public an opportunity for questions and comments regarding the offer. It is of the utmost importance for Woonsocket residents to be fully informed and understand the details of the offer, and attendance is strongly encouraged. Further public hearing information will follow in the near future.”
