Vehicle Identification (VIN) verifications are done on a first-come, first-serve basis after all police matters are handled.  VIN checks are performed on cars manufactured by 2001.  We are currently conducting VIN Checks for City residents only.  Please have the following with you when you come to have your VIN verified:

  • Vehicle original title if it is a new purchase or a bank-certified copy (front and back).
  • If it is a transfer, you will need the active out-of-state registration.
  • A bill of sale, gift letter, or power of attorney.
  • For leased vehicles, a letter from the leasing company.
  • Proof of Rhode Island residency.

Hours of Operation (weather permitting)

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Woonsocket Police Headquarters (242 Clinton St., Woonsocket)
  • NO HOLIDAYS
  • Cost is $10 for City Residents
  • Check Or Money Orders Only
  • Payable to "City of Woonsocket"
  • Cash or Credit/Debit cards are not accepted.
