Welcome to the Detective Division webpage. Investigators assigned to the Woonsocket Police Department Detective Division combat crime by conducting timely, thorough and diligent investigations. Detectives maximize the use of all available technological resources and traditional investigative procedures to solve crimes, track down and apprehend suspects and their accomplices, as well as to locate missing persons and recover stolen property.
The Detective Division provides support and assistance to the Uniform Division during preliminary investigations as required, following up on complaints and incidents that demand more detailed investigation. The division sees to it that arrest reports of individuals taken into custody are accurate and complete, ensuring successful prosecution
Every complaint forwarded to the division is reviewed by an investigator who makes a determination on the appropriate course of action and additional follow-up required. If a case is determined to be non-workable, the victim is notified and the case is suspended pending further information.
