7th ANNUAL PUMPKIN PATCH EVENT TO BE HELD AT RIVERS EDGE RECREATION COMPLEX SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19

WOONSOCKET, R.I.:  The Rivers Edge Recreation Complex on Davison Avenue will serve as the new site for the City of Woonsocket’s 7th Annual Pumpkin Patch event for Woonsocket residents scheduled on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  A rain date of the following day, at the same time has been assigned.

“You definitely know it’s fall with the arrival of Woonsocket’s Pumpkin Patch.  Our event adds a fun, arts and crafts twist to a signature fall activity,” said Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt.  “Every year I find myself more and more amazed with the hundreds of individuals that this wildly popular event attracts.”

Rivers Edge offers 238 parking spaces to accommodate the approximately four to five hundred Woonsocket children and their family members who traditionally attend the Pumpkin Patch. Organized for Woonsocket residents, the City’s Parks and Recreation Division sponsors the freeadmission event that integrates fun with a classic fall icon.

During the event, the City will distribute free locally grown pumpkins to Woonsocket children ages toddler through 12 to decorate with free supplies at on-site decorating stations.  Parents of infants and babies may purchase a pumpkin on their child’s behalf for $5, if any remain available.  Additionally, the event will feature free kids’ activities such as a bounce house, petting zoo and face painting.

“Outgrowing our former location of Cold Spring Park due to the large influx of Pumpkin Patch attendees is a testament to the excellent work of our parks and recreation staff spearheaded by Superintendent Liz Kerrigan who has created such a fabulous fall event,” said Mayor BaldelliHunt.

Event attendees are encouraged to bring a canned good or non-perishable food item for the City to donate to a local charity.
