CITY TO HOLD TWO FREE SUMMER CLASSIC CAR CRUISES IN MARKET SQUARE MUNICIPAL PARKING LOT

MONDAY, JULY 22 AND AUGUST 19

 

WOONSOCKET, R.I.: Market Square Municipal Parking Lot will become an outdoor vintage vehicle showroom for each of the City’s final two Car Cruise events that will be held, free to the public on it will hold for free for the public Monday, July 22 and August 19 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Rain dates will be held on the following Monday.

 

“Surrounding oneself with shiny, museum-quality classic cars in a highly visible spot like Market Square to attract a large crowd gives Monday a whole new significance here in Woonsocket,” said Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt.  “Historically, the City has held its Car Cruise on Wednesday evenings on Main Street but decided to move the event to Monday in order to accelerate the public’s exposure to the stunning artistry of these beautiful automobiles.”

 

The roadway surrounding Market Square, a portion of upper Main Street and a portion of River Street where it intersects with South Main Street will be closed to traffic from 5 p.m. until after event participants clear from the event site.  Similar to prior Car Cruise events, free parking is available within the City’s municipal lots.

 

“Market Square, Main Street and South Main Street will become pedestrian central this summer on July 22 and August 19 with our very own emcee Rich George who as DJ Car Guy will play cool fifties through eighties music throughout both theseevents.  Also, a variety of great eats will be available from event food vendors who are eager to serve you from their food trucks,truck or table,” noted Mayor Baldelli-Hunt.  “The City openly welcomes residents of all ages and visitors from all over to join in this extremely fun, summer family event that will feature upbeat music, gorgeous cars and great food.”  and plenty of shopping at any of the nearby merchants
