Mayor Baldelli-Hunt Announces Mega Independence Day Celebration with Fireworks, Live Music and Food Trucks

Woonsocket, R.I.: Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt announced today that the City’s annual Independence Day Celebration will return with a loud bang this year on July 3rd, 2021, with a fireworks and music extravaganza at the World War II Veterans Memorial Park on Social Street. The celebration will begin at 4:00 p.m. with live music provided by Edge of Dreams and the Jessie Liam Band and will culminate with massive fireworks display scheduled to light up the night at 9:00 p.m. after the playing of our National Anthem. Food and ice cream trucks will be available for residents and visitors to enjoy throughout the night. The rain date for this event is Monday, July 5th, 2021.

Mayor Baldelli-Hunt enthusiastically stated, “Our spectacular event this year not only celebrates our great nation’s independence, but also pays tribute both to the resiliency of our Woonsocket community in withstanding the COVID-19 pandemic and to the optimism that we all have for brighter days ahead.” The Mayor added, “This will be a great time for our residents and visitors to get together with family and friends to have fun in the beautiful outdoor setting that World War II Veterans Memorial Park provides while enjoying live music and watching our best fireworks display yet.”

Human Services Director Linda Plays who was instrumental in pulling together this event offered, “This will be a perfect opportunity to see friends and neighbors whom we have not had contact with since the pandemic shut everything down and will be a nice start to a more optimistic and active summer.”

In the event of inclement weather Woonsocket residents and visitors are asked to tune into local radio stations WOON and WNRI to find out the status of the Independence Day Celebration. The City will also broadcast a weather-related postponement of the event to Monday July 5th on its “Code Red” alert system.
