SUBJECT:  Situational Awareness Event

The City of Woonsocket Public Safety Division in collaboration with the Woonsocket Education Department will be performing a Situational Awareness Event for the entire Woonsocket High School 2018 Graduating Class on Tuesday June 12, 2018, beginning promptly at 0845 hrs.

The practical portion will be held at Dionne Track 366 Cumberland Hill Road which is right across from Woonsocket Fire Headquarters.  The event  usually lasts about an hour and encompasses a realistic reenactment of a tragic  automobile accident, actual police and fire responses, vehicle extrication, emergency medical services, the administering of a field sobriety test along with the actual  arrest of an impaired operator, the transfer of a deceased passenger to the medical examiner, an enactment of a distraught mother entering the scene of her child’s accident, and the arrival of Boston Med Flight for an airlift transfer to a trauma center.

In addition, immediately following the practical scenario, the students will move into the High School Auditorium for about an hour and a half.  During that time a very realistic lecture and power point presentation about the results of destructive decisions and situational awareness will be presented by Deputy Fire Chief Roger Perreault and Woonsocket Police Patrolman Jason Berthelette.

We would love for you to attend if you have an opportunity.  Thank you for your consideration and look forward to seeing you there.
