Spring Street Sweeping to Begin April 17

WOONSOCKET, R.I.: Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt today announced that city-wide residential street sweeping will begin on April 17. The Woonsocket Department of Public Works will remove sand and light debris from city streets that accumulated over the course of the winter season. Sweeping along major primary roads began last week.

“It is time for some spring cleaning here in the city and the Department of Public Works is ready to launch this year’s street sweeping program,” said Mayor Baldelli-Hunt. “Clean streets not only look great, but are a part of proper road maintenance and road safety.”

Residents will be notified prior to each of the City’s five sweeping districts will be swept. The first district that will be swept is the East Woonsocket District. Public Works will install temporary message boards in each district to notify residents of upcoming street sweeping.

Residents are encouraged to sweep the sidewalks in front of their homes into the curb area prior to street sweeping. City-wide street sweeping expected to be completed by July.
