Purchasing Department

The Purchasing Department is responsible for purchasing quality goods and services at the lowest possible cost.  Under the direction of the Finance Director, the division works to ensure that all departments comply with the policies and procedures set forth by state and local statute. The mission of the Purchasing Department is to carry out the authority for proper procurement and be the final authorty for all departments within City Government (except School Department).

The City uses a competitive bidding process for the purchase of goods and service in excess of $5,000.  The selection of a vendor is based on the lowest responsible bidder consistent with the specifications whose bid or proposal is deemed most favorable to the City.
