The department's mission is to oversee and perform the powers and duties relating to the functions ans services of budgeting, accounting, purchasing, treasury, collections, personnel data processing, and assessing for all of city government.
The Finance Department is responsible for accurately recording financial activity and reporting on the financial position and outlook of the City of Woonsocket. The department works ethically and uses proper accounting principles in compliance with federal, state, and local statutes.
The Finance Department is involved in budget preparation and is responsible for implementing proper budgetary controls for the monitoring of departmental spending. Cash management of disbursements, debt service, as well as billing and collection of receipts are coordinated under the leadership of this department. The divisions within the Finance Department provide the financial administration necessary to service city residents as well as other city departments.
