WOONSOCKET, R.I.:  The City of Woonsocket will hold a free Document Shredding event for Woonsocket residents paired with an Electronic and Household Hazardous Waste Collection event for all Rhode Island residents at the Woonsocket Solid Waste Facility, 1117 River Street on Saturday, October 19 from 8 a.m. to Noon, rain or shine.

“This convenient document shredding event gives Woonsocket residents the opportunity to safely dispose of personal papers, checks and other printed materials with the Shred RI professionals which should eliminate worry about discarded data potentially falling into the wrong hands,” said Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt.

Event participants must present their Rhode Island driver’s license or other photo ID containing their address during this event which the City of Woonsocket is hosting in conjunction with Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation’s Eco-Depot program, Indie Cycle LLC. of Charlestown and Shred RI of Johnston.

“The City is proud to again partner with the expert, professional services from three of the industry’s leading firms in hosting this environmentally-minded event which ultimately, protects the health and safety of our precious natural resources and us all,” added Mayor Baldelli-Hunt.

“I am pleased that the City can once again host this event.  Its past success shows that Rhode Island residents continue to recognize this event as the proper way to dispose of hazardous materials.  Protection of the environment is of the upmost importance,” said Superintendent of Solid Waste Michael Debroisse.  “We have once again combined three extremely important events of Eco-Depot drop-off, E-waste collection and document shredding into one making it easier for residents to dispose of their materials on one single day.”
