CITY’S TRIO OF FREE CLASSIC CAR CRUISES TO TRANSFORM MAIN STREET INTO MEMORY LANE
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19, JULY 24 and AUGUST 21

WOONSOCKET, R.I.:  The City of Woonsocket will host three free Summer Classic Car Cruises for the public along Main Street between Depot Square and Market Square on Wednesday nights starting on June 19, as well as July 24, and August 21, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Should there be a cancellation due to weather the rain dates for the event will be held on the following Wednesday.

“The many gorgeous, meticulously preserved classic beauties starring in the long-running car show makes this a must-attend event for all ages,” said Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt.  “A colorful sea of magnificent vintage artistry will transform a 1600 ft. quadrant of our City’s historic central traffic artery into a classic car stage.”

Popular Rhode Island Disc Jockey/Car Guru Rich George will play an array of well-liked songs that many will identify with.  Local restaurants, such as River Falls, Ye Olde English Fish n’ Chip, Ocean Café, and New York Lunch, will be open for those wanting to have a sit-down meal before or after enjoying the event, and other businesses on Main Street will be open during the car shows as well.  Additionally, an onsite food section will offer fare as well.

Main Street will be closed to regular vehicles at 5 p.m. making way for those participating in this popular summer tradition.  Free parking is available at the City’s municipal lots including Market Square, Clinton Street and Bernon Street behind Coffee Connection, all within walking distance of Main Street.

“C’mon downtown and stroll along Main Street where you can admire the vintage view, visit businesses and eat great food,” added Mayor Baldelli-Hunt.  “Each and every one of the classic vehicles promises to bring us back to the good ole days when the vehicle was considered more of a prized centerpiece rather than simply a means to get from point A to point B.”
