City Memorial Day Ceremony to Honor Selfless Service of Veterans

WOONSOCKET, R.I.:  Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt invites the greater Woonsocket community to join the City of Woonsocket and the United Veterans Council of Woonsocket (UVCW) during a Memorial Day Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 27, 2019 at the UVCW Armed Forces Park located on Davison Avenue to honor and remember the selfless patriotism and valor of those Veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

 “Woonsocket is the home to many Veterans whose individual and collective military service continues to secure America, enabling each of us to fully enjoy our U.S. Constitutional liberties and freedoms each day,” said Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt.  “Please join us at the UVCW’s pristine Armed Forces Park this Memorial Day as we come together as a community and a country to honor and remember our service men and women who ultimately gave their lives for our country”

The ceremony will include a short speaking program, the Woonsocket Police and Fire Honor Guards, Woonsocket High School Air Force ROTC and musical performances by the Woonsocket High School Band and Soloist Charles Desaulniers.  WOON Radio 1240 a.m. will broadcast the event live. 

In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved to Woonsocket City Hall, 169 Main Street where it will be held inside Harris Hall on the 3rd floor.
