City of Woonsocket Postpones Independence Day Fireworks

WOONSOCKET, R.I.: Due the COVID-19 Global Health Pandemic restrictions of maintaining social distancing and limited gatherings by the Executive Order of Governor Gina Raimondo, the City of Woonsocket is postponing its annual Independence Day Fireworks display.

Director of Human Services Linda Plays says, “The health and well-being of our residents is paramount at this unprecedented time.” Plays said “We have chosen to postpone this event until we are all able to fully enjoy the festive display. Tentatively, our goal is to plan a Labor Day event including fireworks”.

Once a new date has been confirmed the event will be held on the grounds of the World War II Veterans Memorial Park on Social Street.

Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt wishes all residents a safe and Happy 4th of July.
