City of Woonsocket unveils new website
Complete redesign delivers improved public access

WOONSOCKET, RI: Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt announced today, the launch of a redesigned website for the City of Woonsocket, which went live at 8:30 am. The new site features an improved interface, easy access to public records and commonly used forms and documents, and virtual options to contact City Hall to report a concern.

“Our new website will offer greater accessibility to government services, public records, and City news and events,” said Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt. “It has been a priority of my administration to increase the openness and transparency of City government, and www.woonsocketri.org is a big step towards reaching that goal. The new website platform is easier to use and will increase the ability for our residents and visitors to interact with the City of Woonsocket.”

The new website was developed by Virtual Towns & Schools (VTS), a New England based company specializing in web development for local municipalities and K-12 schools. VTS will provide ongoing support services along with the Cities IT services provider.

“We are thrilled to be working with the City of Woonsocket and to be part of the City’s push to meet the growing demand for access and efficiency in municipal government,” said Millard Rose, President of VTS. “As the largest provider of municipal websites in New England, we have a proven track record for delivering a high quality product and accompanying services. Virtual Towns & Schools looks forward to a continued partnership with the City of Woonsocket for its website and online needs.”

In addition to an improved layout, new features to the website include a “Find it Fast” search function that allows a user to quickly pinpoint a desired topic without navigating through an option menu. Visitors will now also have the option of translating pages throughout the entire website into a variety of languages. User experience will be fine-tuned over the coming weeks following Thursday’s launch.

The new website can be accessed at www.woonsocketri.org.
