Curfew Rescinded for Woonsocket


Woonsocket, RI; Woonsocket Public Safety Officials indicate that after two (2) nights of relative calm within the City, effective immediately, Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt is rescinding yesterday’s Executive Order 2020-7 which imposed a citywide curfew.

Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt said “Public Safety Officials took extraordinary measures to ensure the safety of our residents, visitors and property. I thank all our residents and proprietors for their understanding throughout the last several days where we have witnessed turbulent behavior in nearby communities and threats against the City of Woonsocket. I believe we took necessary precautions to keep our community safe.”

According to Public Safety Director Eugene Jalette, “We continue to work daily with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners analyzing data and monitoring threat assessments. Protecting our citizens and their property is paramount. “
