Holiday Rubbish & Recycling schedule update
WOONSOCKET, RI: The Woonsocket Department of Solid Waste has announced changes to the hours of operation for Woonsocket rubbish and recycling facilities and services over the Labor Day holiday weekend. In observance of the September 5 holiday, the following facilities and services will be impacted:
- The Woonsocket Recycle Facility located at 943 River Street will be closed on Saturday, September 3 and Monday, September 5.
- Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (Central Landfill) in Johnston will be closed on Monday, September 3.
- Woonsocket trash and recycling curbside pick-up will be pushed back one day. Monday’s curbside pickup will occur on Tuesday, Tuesday’s pickup on Wednesday, and so forth.
Residents are also reminded that any overloaded trash cart(s) or recycling cart(s) placed curbside will not be collected. In those cases, it is the responsibility of the property owner or tenant to properly dispose of the waste at their own expense. Pickup will not resume until waste is properly disposed.
Please note that curbside collection of yard waste will resume the week of September 26 and will run for a total of ten weeks this fall. Residents are reminded to not place any yard waste bags on the sidewalk areas until that date.
