National retailer set to call Diamond Hill Plaza home
Ollie’s Bargain Outlet to open first store in Rhode Island at site of former Staples

WOONSOCKET, RI: The City of Woonsocket was notified this week that national retailer Ollie’s Bargain Outlet will be opening their first Rhode Island location in the Diamond Hill Plaza on Diamond Hill Road. Ollie’s is the latest business set to target the Diamond Hill area, which has seen an increase in development activity during this calendar year.

“It is always a great day when we can welcome a new business into our community,” said Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt. “Diamond Hill Road is a key economic sector of the City and the addition of Ollie’s highlights a recent trend in increased development for that area. I look forward to the continued revival of Diamond Hill Road and other business districts in Woonsocket.”

Recent development along Diamond Hill road can be traced back to the opening of Dunkin Donuts in September of 2015, and has continued with the announcements of the relocation of the DMV branch to Diamond Hill Plaza, a new Popeye’s restaurant, and Original House of Pizza in the last six months. Ollie’s is poised to move into the former Staples in Diamond Hill Plaza, which is managed by Madison Properties.

“We are thrilled to see Ollie’s Bargain Outlet come to the City and call Diamond Hill Plaza home,” said Sam Rapp, Director of Leasing at Madison Properties. “The plaza is near full occupancy thanks to a renewed confidence in development in the community. I appreciate the hands on, proactive approach that the Mayor has taken to restore interest in investing in Woonsocket.”

Ollie’s is a national retail chain originally based in Pennsylvania whose operations have grown to 229 stores in 19 states.
