Mayor Baldelli-Hunt Announces New Grant Funded Trash/Recycling Receptacles for WWII Veterans Memorial Park and Dog Park

WOONSOCKET, R.I.: Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt announced today that the City has received a grant from Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation as well as some in-kind contributions from Waste Management Inc., to fully fund the acquisition of ten combination recycle and trash receptacles to be placed at two City parks. The Mayor indicated that nine of the new receptacles will be installed at World War II Veterans Memorial Park as soon as they arrive from the manufacturer, and that one special dog themed receptacle has already been set up at the River’s Edge Dog Park.

The receptacles will combine heavy duty construction with user-friendly functionality in a modern, clean appearance that will blend in with the parks’ natural settings. The dog park themed receptacle will especially add to the overall fun vibe of that park. Each receptacle provides separate compartments that make it easy for park visitors to sort trash from recyclables.

Mayor Baldelli-Hunt exclaimed, “I want to express my gratitude to the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation and Waste Management Inc. for awarding us the funds to purchase these recycling and trash receptacles.” The Mayor added, “We have worked diligently to make our parks clean and attractive for all to enjoy. These receptacles will not only provide park visitors convenient places to pick up after their pets and themselves, but will also motivate them to recycle and help save the environment.”

The Mayor then lauded the work of Director Mike Debroisse and Veronika Vega in the City’s Planning and Development Department in attaining the grants, and then researching the best recycle and trash receptacles for the parks.
