Woonsocket to honor 9/11 heroes at annual observance
WOONSOCKET, RI: On Sunday, September 11, 2016, the City of Woonsocket will hold a memorial service in honor of those lost in tragic events of September 11, 2001. The service will be held at the Woonsocket Fire Department Headquarters, 5 Cumberland Hill Road, at 9:00 am until approximately 9:30 am. Members of the public are invited to join Elected and community leaders in recognizing the sacrifice made by so many on that fateful day.
“Recognizing the heroic individuals and innocent victims who perished on
September 11, ensures that their memory lives on,” said Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt. “The attacks on 9/11, were and are a galvanizing point in the history of the United States and have shaped the identity of this country. Our community is proud to recognize the sacrifice made by our fellow Americans on that day, 15 years ago.”
Sunday’s speaking agenda will include, Public Safety Department Chaplains, Police and Fire Department leadership, and Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt. This year’s memorial service marks the third year in a row that a September 11, observance has been held in the City. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the Fire Station.
